Head of Tooling – Aerospace Sector (Paris, France)

Flexible Hybrid Model – 1 Day Remote | Minimal Travel

A global leader in the design, manufacture, and support of complex aircraft components is seeking a process-driven Head of Tooling to join their Paris-based operation. With a strong reputation for engineering excellence and precision, the organisation plays a key role in supporting major aerospace programmes and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery to customers across the commercial and defence aviation sectors.

About the Role

This strategic leadership position will see you managing a diverse team of 14 professionals, including Design Engineers, Procurement Specialists, and Customer Support staff. You will take full ownership of all tooling activity on site – from standard hand tools through to advanced hydraulic systems and electrical test rigs used in the production and testing of aircraft parts.

Operating in a fast-paced environment with high expectations on turnaround time, your ability to bring structure, drive process, and create consistency across tooling operations will be key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and support a cross-functional tooling team to meet operational and strategic objectives.
  • Oversee the full tooling lifecycle – from concept, design and procurement to maintenance and retirement.
  • Collaborate across engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure tooling solutions meet programme and delivery targets.
  • Drive the implementation of standard operating procedures and introduce structured process improvements.
  • Monitor tooling performance, costs, and availability through defined KPIs and reporting.
  • Ensure all tooling complies with relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

About You

  • Extensive experience in tooling or industrial support within an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Comfortable working in a structured, process-orientated environment; experience in programme or project management is a strong advantage.
  • Hands-on understanding of tooling systems – from manual equipment to complex hydraulic and electrical rigs.
  • Clear communicator and problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement.

Why Join?

  • Strategic leadership opportunity in a key department within a globally recognised aerospace manufacturer.
  • Flexible working model with just one day a week from home and minimal travel required.
  • Open, inclusive culture focused on innovation, delivery, and development.
